Dead or Alive 5 Director Believes That Shenmue’s Ryo Would be an Ideal Addition

With the release of Team Ninja’s Dead or Alive 5 rapidly approaching, producer Yousuke Hayashi announced that not all the game’s characters are yet revealed. Characters from the Dead or Alive and possibly more from the Virtua Fighter series may pop up within the coming weeks. Not only that, but in a recent interview with VG24/7, Hayashi teased at a possible appearance from Ryo Hazuki from Sega’s Shenmue as his personal “dream cameo”.

“Speaking of Sega characters, I’d say the main character from Shenmue. When considering a cameo for a fighting game, you have to look at someone who can actually fight. After the release of Dead or Alive 5 we’d like to explore cameos further, but at the moment…it’s a secret,” Hayashi said in the interview.

Hayashi also spoke about Team Ninja’s cooperation with Sega on the Dead or Alive 5 project. There’s a strong possibility of unlockable characters as well. No further info is available at this time as to which characters are yet confirmed, but there’s no denying that Ryo Hazuki would be a great addition to the roster. Dead or Alive 5 hits the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on Sept. 25.
